The Holidays are here. Family and Food (Covid Safe!) will soon be in abundance as will foods with lots of Reds and Dyes that can really stain your carpets and other furniture.  I know you love your little nephew, but lets save the family some headaches (and some behinds) by a few prep tips for your Holiday crowd and how to keep those carpets and other possessions safe.

1.  Coasters! Not only do they keep your furniture protected, but they also keep drinks balanced and flat. This will help them from ending up on the floor.

2. Declutter: WE all have an extra basket for blankets, a dog bowl or a stack of books in our main living areas. Take a few of these items and stuff them in cupboards and chest in that room. Not only will the room seem larger, less items to clutter your foot path will save that red wine a trip to the floor.

3. Relatives with Pets: Set the boundaries before the trip (any surprise pets are outside animals), gate off any areas that have carpet. Even seasoned older dogs can have accidents with the nerves get the best of them at new locations around folks they don’t see to often.

4. Have your organic stain recover and blotting cloth ready. Ever second counts when a stain hits the floor. Having these items ready will save your carpets and make you look like a seasoned pro.

These holidays are different than the ones we have grown accustomed to.  Being more prepared equals allot less stress. And at the end of the day, if the carpets do get a stain you are not able to remove, call Clean Floors Carpet Cleaning to come and take care of that for you.

get it. It seems like the bills to maintain a home never end. When your little one spills some red juice or your furry loved ones have an accident, the temptation to do-it-yourself versus trying to hire a carpet cleaning company and the cost associated with that can weigh on your mind.

As an expert in the field of carpet cleaning and thousands of cleans under my belt, I would never recommend using an “over-the-counter” treatment method.  Organic methods that can be made with items you have around your home are not only more cost effective in cleaning stains on your carpet, but a lot of times will do less damage to the fibers in the carpet and decrease the chances of “fiber-lock” where the stain is permantley locked into the fibers either by the chemicals in household cleaning products you can buy for stains or by the stain protectors in allot of these cleaners that can lock the stain in before it is removed.

Before doing any spot treatment, make sure you  Google your carpet manufacture cleaning recommendations. You also do not want to void the carpet warranty by not following the recommended cleaning methods from the manufacture. Many manufactures will actually require a professional IICR Carpet Cleaner to clean the carpets and provide any maintenance.

If you are comfortable you will not void any warranties after identifying your carpet type and the best organic cleaning method test a small sample area behind a chair ina corner to make sure your carpets will not have any reactions that may make the stain worse or not able to ever remove.

Of course, if you need a carpet cleaning company with the knowledge of how to tackle a stain without creating a bigger issue then give Clean Floors Carpet Cleaning a call today.

One thing that you learn when going to school for Carpet Cleaning is the importance of a good strong pre-vac before you get started on your cleaning. Many of my awesome Customers vacuum before I arrive and always let me know this right when I break out my Vac. A good carpet cleaner knows that you always vacuum even if your Customer has already tried to save you some time.

Many times my customers are amazed that I can still fill a canister (or 2- lol) when I go right behind them and vacuum an area that they just vacuumed. Sometimes I vac up so much after the Customer vacuums that they believe their vacuum is not a good machine in keeping their carpets cleaned.  Really, almost any vacuum will get the job done (hunter is pictured with a floor vac here, most of the time he uses his backpack vac), as long as you follow these steps for the perfect vacuum.

1. Do not put anything down before the vac. No deodorizers or carpet cleaners. These powdered and liquids can actually keep more dirt in your fibers while the vacuum power focuses on the product you applied wasting valuable suction power that could be used for dirt.

2. Use a carpet rake before you vacuum. A carpet rake is a great tool for pre-loosing soils before you vac. These rakes can be bought online or at a local janitorial supply store. Start at the top of the room and work your way down in 4-6′ sections as you rake.  Rake your carpet all the way to and out the door.

3. Sweep the edges with a crevice tool or brush. Tight corners (especially behind doors) can hold lots of dirt and grime.  Sweep these hard-to-reach spots real well out onto the carpet and then use your vacuum crevice tool to clean it up.

4. Make “Shark Teeth” patterns when vacuuming in a 3-1 pass. Up – back – up and then back with your first tooth. This pattern is a trade tool that helps you make sure you double hit any spot and keep a consistent vacuum.

5. Make sure your vacuum is clean. The importance of a clean vacuum cleaner goes without saying. Always check your roller for debris, make sure your canister or bag is clean, and that your brushes are debris free.

Following these important vacuuming tips will add years of life to your carpet and keep them the cleanest for the best smell and the least amount of allergens.

We were able to remove all the blood and save the Customers carpet. Blood can be very challenging and involves a more intense cleaning than a standard clean.  the trick is lots of Enzyme and Heat. We have had many carpets stained with blood that we have been able to save over the years. I recently just switched to a portable cleaning unit for many reasons while cleaning the carpet in Charleston. This was a big move for me, but I wanted to review why I did this.

1. The portable has enough power to clean. I still have my 130 PSI and access to heat over 200 degrees. Anything more than that is overkill and can damage most carpet fibers.

2. Its way better for the environment! My truckmounts tend to be dirty and produce lots and lots of pollution.

3. More economical. By switching to portables from truck mounts we are able to save lots of money. We have passed that savings onto our customers and was able to lower our price per room by $10.

Any professional carpet cleaner will tell you that a good pre-vacuum is a MUST before steam cleaning any carpets.

Why a pre-vacuum if your about to bring in this big powerful truck mount system that has tons of vacuum power?

The reason is simple. The more loose soil you remove before the pre-treatment and steam clean process the better clean you will have when you do your Steam Clean, because your vacuum and hot water can focus more on the nonloose dirt and your pre-spray can have time to work on loosening the dirt and particles that are not easily removed.

At the end of the day, it gives you more final cleaning power for better steam cleaning and a way better clean!

So it might have happened. Your son spilled that Dark Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Ice Cream on the floors or in a hurry you accidentally jumped up to answer your phone and spilled that red polish directly from your lap onto that cream-colored carpet.

However, the accident happens when it comes time to finding the correct professional to clean your carpets.

#1 Make sure you are using an IICRC Company. The IICRC is a national certification that shows the company or technician has gone through National Training Standards for proper stain removal.  This protects you from several of the bad actors out there that tend to charge more and a large majority of the time do not even end up resolving the issue at hand. An improperly trained technician can damage the fibers of your carpet piling and not completely remove the stain.

#2 Reviews are important. Hiring a Carpet Cleaner with less than 4 stars good be trouble. Save your self-time and money by doing a little quick research online and making sure you hire a provider who is actually providing.

#3 Pricing that seems to low usually is and can result in getting a quick treatment on a heavy stain that could reappear (commonly known as wicking) the next day. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is and you may encounter a person in your home using high-pressure sales techniques to “jack-up” the price.

These are a few quick tips to help you find the right cleaner.

We love our furry family members more than anything. If you have a puppy or dog, pet urine accidents are going to happen on your carpets. Sometimes our furry friends get excited or nervous and have an accident or our older aging fur babies might have accidents from lack of control as they age

At the end of the day, when those accidents happen here are a few tips to help stop and prevent and react t pet urine odors and stains.

1. When it happens, let them finish. Yes I know this sounds a little crazy, but speaking up is only going to make them move around during the accident making the clean-up more spread out and harder to control.  So just let it happen when it does.

2. Avoid eye contact with young dogs when you get home or are meeting other dogs. This will make them less likely to pee.

3. When an accident happens, get right on pre-cleaning. DO NOT USE over the counter remedies. Natural remedies such as warm water and vinegar or good soap are important. Get the spot saturated and use several dry towels to pat the area dry. Using chemicals such as Resolve or other instant cleaners can have an adverse effect and lock the urine stains into your fibers or cause color clause from damaging the fibers. A few treatments with the same process helps.

4. Call, text, or email Clean Floors Carpet Cleaning to come in with an Odor Enzyme Treatment and extraction with hot steam. With our UV Light we can identify other spots and after a good dwell time and treatment remove the dog stain and odors.
